Role Brief:
NNIT Ireland has an opportunity for a highly experienced Senior Systems Integration Engineer to support a range of systems integration and technology tasks. The role will cover a range of industrial automation technologies but will have a strong focus on Aveva PI and the management and optimization of industrial data infrastructure within regulated manufacturing environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
AVEVA PI System Administration:
- Installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of PI Data Archive, PI AF, and PI Vision.
- Managing PI Interfaces, Connectors, and Data Collectors (e.g., OPC, MQTT, Modbus).
- User access, security model management, and system troubleshooting.
- PI System upgrades, patching, and high-availability deployments.
- Manufacturing Intelligence & Analytics.
- Designing and supporting OEE and MOEE dashboards for continuous improvement.
- Data modelling using PI AF and calculations for production KPIs.
- Integration of PI with MES, SCADA, and ERP systems.
- Operational Technology (OT) & Industrial Networks.
- Strong understanding of OT devices (PLCs, RTUs, sensors) and industrial protocols.
- Knowledge of industrial data centers, server infrastructure, and network topology.
- Experience with edge data collection and secure data transfer to enterprise systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Working closely with operations, engineering, and IT to ensure reliable data flows.
Skills Brief:
- Significant experience across a range of industrial automation technologies such as PLC, SCADA, MES, PI and others gained within Pharma, Life Sciences or Medical Devices manufacturing environments
- Specific experience with Aveva PI to system administrator level.
- Experience of the creation and maintenance of a PI asset framework.
- Experience of the Installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of PI Data Archive, PI AF, and PI Vision.
- Experience during project delivery and operations support of Data Historian systems, MES systems and SCADA/DCS based control systems including network topology concepts and general IS/IT aspects.
- Experience of the Integration of PI with MES, SCADA, and ERP systems.
- Experience with BI tools (i.e., Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire), SQL and any programming language as well as with Azure/AWS will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of industrial data centers, server infrastructure, and network topology
- Experience with edge data collection and secure data transfer to enterprise systems
Person Brief:
Candidates will, as a minimum have a bachelor’s degree in IT, Mechatronics/Automation or Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline with 5 or more years’ experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
You should have a diverse technical skillset and exposure to a range of systems within the Pharma, Life Sciences or Medical Devices manufacturing industry but you must have significant Aveva PI experience and be able to provide evidence of delivering a number of projects in this technology during your career.
A minimum of 5 years experience in a GMP regulated environment (Pharma/Life Sciences, Biotech or Medical Devices) is essential and only candidates with significant experience in this regard can be considered.
The role will have a regular onsite requirement with some remote work also possible. There can be no guaranteed or fully scheduled requirements regarding the onsite element so therefore you should be living in Ireland, have your own transport and be able to work onsite in Kilkenny as required. Only EU or UK citizens and candidates with a current Irish work permit can be considered at this time.
